Lieutenant Michael Slocum, a graduate of FBI National Academy Session #289, combines extensive law enforcement experience with a commitment to leadership and professional development. With years of service at the Painesville Police Department, Michael is dedicated to advancing public safety and supporting the growth of his fellow officers.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement Administration from Youngstown State University, a Master's in Public Administration from Cleveland State University, and a graduate certificate in Criminal Justice Education from the University of Virginia. As a Certified Law Enforcement Executive, Michael strives to raise the standards of professionalism within his department and the broader law enforcement community.
A strong advocate for continuous learning, Michael believes that empowering officers leads to safer communities. He has shared his expertise at the FBI National Academy and spoken at various forums on Stoicism and resilience-building for law enforcement professionals.
Outside of law enforcement, Michael is passionate about supporting the mental and emotional well-being of first responders. As Program Manager at Frontline Freedom, he leads transformative backpacking trips designed to help first responders build resilience, face challenges, and foster camaraderie.
