Clinical Psychologist
Dr. Nate Tomcik, is a board-certified clinical psychologist and co-founder of Radically Open Connections, a behavioral-health clinic in Columbus, Ohio specializing in Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) and evidence-based treatments for treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship distress.
Dr. Tomcik previously served for nearly two decades at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, most recently as Chief Psychologist and Deputy Chief of Behavioral Health at the VA Central Ohio Healthcare System. During his tenure, he led interdisciplinary teams providing care for military veterans with complex trauma and helped develop the nation’s first VA-based RO-DBT program. He is recognized internationally as a Senior Clinician and Trainer in RO-DBT, and has taught this model to clinicians across the United States and abroad.
In addition to his work with veterans, Dr. Tomcik is a board-certified specialist in Couple and Family Psychology, with advanced training in Integrative Behavioral Couple Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, and Strategic Family Therapy. His clinical and research interests center on emotional overcontrol, social signaling, and relationship functioning.
Dr. Tomcik earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Tennessee and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy. Today, through Radically Open Connections, he brings RO-DBT and specialized couple/family care to the broader community, including first responders, medical professionals, and individuals seeking help for chronic or treatment-resistant conditions.
